Inspired by physical media, I created my first 8-page zine. I rewrote six of my video game reviews to bring them together as a recommendation zine. The twist is that the recommendation is less about which game to play and more about how to enjoy it. Think of it as a pairing menu.
This project was so I could feel a little more at home in the zine community here in Toronto. It also feels like a good outlet for my gaming habits. Once again, I’m inspired by bloggers like Gaming in Yellow, who create physical media out of their time playing games.
I love Rig Solid as a punchy header font, and was looking to use it in a small project like this. I went through a few revisions and got great feedback before picking the right combinations.
In making this zine, I also created an InDesign template for making an 8-page zine on a single 8.5″x11″ page. I’ll make that available soon.
