Layouts I Love 9 • Letterboxd Year in Review 2025

Letterboxd’s Year in Review (https://letterboxd.com/2025) is designed so well, I changed my posting schedule for it. Look at this website. It works at any size, but retains a nice vertical rhythm. It has a table of contents! More of that on web pages, please.

Massive hero images leave you breathless. The right amount of text underneath, set perfectly. Everything that can be a hyperlink is a hyperlink.

Even the ads are nice. I am not anti-ad at all. I love good ads, and the ads here make sense. They fit, like a curated magazine spread.

Halfway down, there’s a month breakdown, and it works like you’d think it would. These aren’t static images. Click the image, get a link to the movie.

Letterboxd is a user-review app, and I’m happy to see their YIR highlight good lists. What I’m even more impressed with is the highlight for good videos. Some of these have criminally low views. Go watch them.

It’s in the DNA of the site to make a cute, cheeky list of film posters. Bravo, here.
