Design can be a somewhat lonely career, which means a lot of us end up with podcast addictions. I’ve curated a collection of design-focused podcasts that I dip into occasionally to get inspired, challenge my own ideas, and better understand what’s happening in my industry. Maybe you’ll like them too.

99% Invisible: The gold standard of well-thought-out design shows. Hosted by Roman Mars, this show explores architecture and design.

Articles of Interest: Host Avery Trufelman treats fashion as a complex design system, always a fun listen.

The CreativePro Podcast: This one is really useful anytime Adobe releases new features and I need to know if they’re worth learning. The team provides valuable insights into InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

DesignThinkers Podcast: An extension of the RGD, this is a nice conversational show with other designers. It’s a little more business-focused.

Magazeum: This is a trio of shows, all focused at the world of publishing and editorial design. Print is Dead, The Full Bleed, and The Next Page pods all cover the landscape of magazines, zines, and independent print media. This is a good one for going back to older episodes, and their website is (maybe not surprisingly) incredible.

The Stack: Monocle’s weekly radio show about the magazine industry, it tracks health and trends and features interviews with many impressive editors.
