Layouts I Love 60 • Reality Has a Surprising Amount of Detail by Robin Sloan

Robin Sloan is an author of interesting fiction and essays. As long as I’ve followed his career, I’ve been impressed with how willing he is to experiment with form and medium. ”Reality Has a Surprising Amount of Detail” is a poster on one side and an essay on the other. It could have been a blog post, but I like that he did this.

The essay is a love letter to the US Post Office, and the impressive scale of people trying and succeeding. There is still runway here. Mail things to people. Put your money where your mouth is.

As Robin says in the essay, “The number of virtual worlds, of competing infoscapes, of mad digital dioramas, is infinite. The number of physical worlds is one.”
