You’d buy something, and then there would also be a CD. They wanted you to have the CD too, so they bundled it with the thing you wanted. This used to happen all the time, to everyone you knew. Whether they wanted CD or not, the CD was there, along with the thing you wanted. You wanted a magazine? CD. Newspaper? CD. Coffee? CD. Cereal? CD. CD? Wouldn’t you believe it, also CD.
The Believer dedicated an entire issue every year geared around this CD. And it worked on me. I wanted the magazine, I think, but I really wanted these CDs. Every year, I’d get new music from artists I kind of liked or never heard of, who would quickly become bands I kind of liked. The 2007 CD was no different.
