There’s a bilingual note in the October issue of Popeye: an explanation for this trip to London to look at the fashion scene. It shows a zeal for travel, regardless of its high cost. Seeing things in person is worth it, they argue. But they also give an anecdote, that Popeye was almost focused on London instead of California. They ask “If that had happened, what kind of clothes would we be wearing now in Japan?”

What follows is an editorial field trip showing off many shops in London the same way Popeye covers anywhere else: collage-dense pages with tons of information, local curiosity, and inviting photos of stuff. It does deliver on an interesting what-if.
I also love the page that’s just titled “what the editors bought.” Maybe I’ll make a page like this for my next trip.
